1st Cor 10:31:
“Whether you eat or drink, do it all for the glory of God.”
I want to end our pursuit of "Marching Forward" with a healthy lifestyle with this Scripture because it centers us on our true purpose: to give glory to God in everything. Because we are made in his image, Genesis 1:26-27, everything about us is meant to reflect his image and character.
Hebrews 1:3 states, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”
Jesus came to earth to give us an earthly representation of his father. We are called to do the same! I like to say, “Jesus came to teach us how to be a child in God’s family and siblings to one another.”
Jesus is God’s child, so are we. It makes sense that we are also called to re-present his father.
All this cannot happen, of course, without the power of God’s Spirit within us. Jesus drove this point home when he told the religious leaders of his day, “The Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).
Do you believe this? Truly believe this? To believe it fully is to live it fully….know that everything we do is for the glory of God--even what we eat or drink!
Maybe, like me, you’ve had a measure of success on our pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, but also some discouraging moments. But, let’s focus on our breakthroughs as they pull us towards transformation. Focusing on our failures takes us further away from pursuing God’s heart.
You are loved….and when your true father looks at you, he sees himself. This is truly good news. We belong and we are loved.
Jesus, thank you for leaving the glory of heaven to come to earth to model for us how to give glory to God in everything. Continue to bring me into alignment with what you know brings glory to your father!
After you brush your teeth, look deeply into the mirror and say out loud, “I am loved by my true father--I look like him because I am a valued child in his family.”
